Does envelope calligraphy include the envelopes?

No, the envelope calligraphy is done on envelopes that you provide us via mail or drop-off. Often clients come to us after they have already ordered event invitations, so they already have envelopes ready to be addressed. If you are interested in purchasing envelopes with your order, use the contact form to send us a message and we will find the perfect paper goods for you!

How does ordering envelope calligraphy work?

After you order the quantity you need, we will reach out via email to schedule a completion date, request your guest address list, and give you an address to mail or drop off your envelopes. You will need to provide 15% extra envelopes to be used in case any mistakes or additions are made. Any unused envelopes will be returned when the order is finished. After receiving the envelopes and finalized guest list, we will complete the calligraphy, and send your hand-calligraphed envelopes back to you all ready to mail!

  1. Choose your style: Choose your calligraphy style and enter your information, keeping in mind that completion dates are usually within a 6-week time period.

  2. Order: Order your envelope calligraphy, and choose the ink color at checkout.

  3. Confirmation: Once we receive your order, you will receive an order conformation with competition timeline and dates, details on how to ship your envelopes to our NC studio, guest list sample templates, etc.

  4. Turnaround: After you’ve shipped or dropped off your envelopes, I will calligraph and ship/arrange pick up of your completed order. Please know that we will notify you of receipt of envelopes, and cannot guarantee exact return dates if there is a delay in shipping or delay in receiving your final guest list. These delays will result in delays to your return date as well, but we will always do our best to work with your schedule!

What is the difference between inner and outer envelope calligraphy?

Outer envelope calligraphy is the guest’s address written on the outermost envelope. Outer envelopes include a full address:

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
102 Henry Ford Lane
Saxapahaw, North Carolina
27651

Inner envelope calligraphy only applies if you are using a second envelope to hold your invitation suite. This is optional, and includes the specific names of invited guests. Inner envelopes include a name line only:

John and Samantha

Reply card envelopes hold your RSVP cards, and are generally printed by your stationer with your return address.

Do you offer samples of calligraphy items?

Yes, we offer samples of each calligraphy style. Simply fill out the form on the samples page, describing the style or styles you are interested in, and we will ship a set of samples directly to you. Our samples of envelope calligraphy include a variety of calligraphy styles and ink colors.

How far in advance should I place my calligraphy order?

We encourage you to place your envelope calligraphy order as soon as you have prepared your guest list and have ordered your invitations. Invitations are traditionally mailed to guests 6-8 weeks prior to a wedding, so we recommend placing an invitation order at least 12-15 weeks prior to your wedding. We are always transparent with lead times for calligraphy, and are happy to answer any questions regarding specific order fulfillment and shipping.  Feel free to contact us if you'd like to discuss scheduling before ordering.

How long does calligraphy take?

Calligraphy usually takes 7-10 days per 100 envelopes. This time may increase for inner + outer envelope sets. Completion date will vary based on our current calligraphy schedule, and will be set as soon as possible within a 6-week timeframe.

Can I rush my calligraphy order?

We offer rush service on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability. You will receive an email within two business days of ordering with expected completion dates of an order. We will give a detailed timeframe of your calligraphy order, and if our proposed completion date does not fit your schedule, we are happy to offer refunds at that time. If you’d rather inquire ahead of time, please feel free to contact us directly by filling out the contact form.

If I order vintage stamps and envelope calligraphy, can they arrive assembled on my envelopes?

We encourage you to order calligraphy and vintage stamps together, as they do have the option to arrive assembled! If you order stamps together with envelope calligraphy, we will either affix them to the envelopes for a small fee, or make sure that the envelopes have plenty of room for the stamps, if you’d prefer to affix them yourself. We suggest speaking with your invitation designer to gauge how heavy your completed invitation will be, which determines how much postage you’ll need to mail the envelopes.  Simply write a note at checkout, or contact us here.

Can I change my stamp order once I’ve placed it?

It is ideal to make final selections for your vintage stamps when placing an order through our website. We do not offer refunds on used stamps once they are affixed to envelopes.

If you’ve ordered vintage stamps on their own and need to return them, we accept returns postmarked within 14 days of your receipt of the items. Once we have received the returned item, we will refund the purchase price excluding shipping costs. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. All items that are returned must be unused, and must include the complete stamp set.

Please check your order as soon as it arrives. Please contact us within 14 days and we will gladly ship missing items to you via USPS First Class Mail.

Can I change my calligraphy order once placed?

You will be able to review your calligraphy timeline, which you will receive and need to approve before addressing begins. If you’d prefer to cancel your order based on that timeline (before calligraphy begins), we offer a full refund. Once the timeline is approved, we cannot offer refunds. We want you to be completely happy with your purchase, so if you’ve received an envelope with an address incorrectly written, I will gladly re-write and ship it at no cost to you. If the mistake is on the part of the client, the regular envelope calligraphy charges will be charged, plus shipping.
